Hungry in Belfast

Once in Belfast we talked to a number of cabs about getting a ride to a local castle. When we took a lower fare cab a fist fight almost broke out between our cabbie and another who was waiting for a hire. The second thought that the presence of our cruise ship should allow for higher fares. Our ride was quite the adventure. He picked up his wife and dropper her off along the way. At every bus stop he would offer people cheap rides in the direction we were going. People getting in and out of our cab, which could hold about 6, made for a rich cultural experience.
Finally we arrived at our destination of Carrickfergus. History tells of how the castle was once under a long siege(1700s?). The starving besieged finally asked for terms of peace. When a delegation arrived at the inner gate boiling hot oil was dumped on them. Those in the castle then ate them. (Ouch. Not your standard KFC delivery. History is not always that easy to stomach.) They surrendered shortly after that.
